The aim of Science Week is to promote the relevance of science, technology, engineering and maths in our everyday lives and to demonstrate their importance to the future development of Irish society and to the economy.
Science Week is a Discover Science & Engineering (DSE) project. DSE initiatives are managed by Science Foundation Ireland on behalf of the Office of Science, Technology and Innovation at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
Everyday Science is all about observations and doing simple experiments with household equipment.
The objective of Science Week each year is to promote the relevance of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) in our everyday lives and to demonstrate their importance to the future of Irish society and to the economy.
This year we want to show everybody in Ireland that they are involved in science every day, carrying out scientific processes and experimenting, even when they are not aware of it.
This year’s theme, “Science Week 2012 – Everyday Experimenting” aims to demonstrate that you are a part of science. You are constantly experimenting. From tying your shoe lace, to attempting a new level on a game, trialling a new recipe and even embarking on a first date—these are everyday experiments.
