From Starburst to Star Bust

Astronomy have discovered huge, billowing columns of cold gas being shot out of the centre of the nearby Sculptor Galaxy, and into space. The bright, multi-coloured blobs in this picture show the material pouring off the galaxy. The pink areas are where the most gas is being lost, and the red shows where the least material is flowing outwards.
