This illustration shows a galaxy with a runaway supermassive black hole at the centre (right). The unusual black hole was spotted by astronomers, moving away from its place at the centre of the galaxy. The cause of this strange behaviour was very likely a collision between two black holes, which created a kick, pushing the black hole into motion.
